I have the wiring diagram for the K1200 series. It may differ from the K1300 but it looks like BMW kept most (all?) connections to/from the ZFE the same. For instance: connector 53 en 54 power the blinkers on the right side on the 1200 and on the 1300.
If you pull the two connectors from the ZFE and look on the inside, you can see the numbered output strips. From memory it is the lower connector unit that powers lights, horn, blinkers, grips etc.. Check if there is any resistance between each connector and corresponding grip. And check if resistance goes down when connecting to ground somewhere on the frame.
The heated grips are powered via ZFE connector 47 (left grip) and 55 (right side). This means each grip is powered independently. Perhaps then we can also conclude that if both grips are dead, both of them are damaged or the ZFE is toast?...
Do not forget to disconnect the battery before doing any work on the wiring and electronics.
No problem. It is not a link but the complete file. It has an executable file and it works like the BMW reprom. But considering it's size I cannot post it here. So I have send you a PM.
Wait a minute. It is even better. I just checked it and it contains the wiring diagrams, connector numbers etc. for BMW G,F,R,K and C models! It stops after year 2007.
Please be aware that although BMW continued to use much of the same connections and their numbering after 2007, at any given moment they could make small software programming changes.
For instance: I bought a second hand ZFE. Came from a 1300S with all the options like my bike, but from 2012. It works fine but with one exception: when activating the alarm, the dash lights up a couple of times instead of the blinkers.
