The end of the line for a K1300S

Scraping out a K13S bike I bought as junk. Had a hard straight on hit and did a tumble. Here is the last major piece coming out.
No one wants a whole engine so I'll sell the tranny, clutch and cylinder head. Frame is cracked in two places. Many parts totaled. Plastic done for. The rear frame is perfect though and valuable along with lots of little stuff. Unfortunately the head lamp assembly is cracked.

Pretty cool Beecher. Seems like a worthwhile project.

I've read previous K13s posts on other forums where the engine grenaded. Will you hold onto this one, if not what are your plans for it?

I've never seen this from normal use, but anything can be grenaded. I had a friend grenade a 427 SOHC back in 1975. He probably still gets tears thinking about that.

My original thoughts were to pull the starter, alternator, clutch, transmission and cylinder head. I really think if someone blows a K13 engine the bike is totaled as the effort to change out an engine is huge. The engine runs, or did after the crash. But, few folks will be interested. I'll save the short block and see. Won't pull the head until I find someone who needs a set of good cams. I'll save the shims for my collection. Lots of parts to share and probably many to toss out. The K12 market will be closing in a few years for clutch and tranny. Old age creeps in for up grades. The K13 folks are still out there. Low mile bikes turn up quite often. They are a super bike. Just hard to work on or expensive to take to a shop.
