          Pete, were you able to recover the drone? If it went into foliage, it might be easily repairable.

            I had been flying in slow mode and got a high wind warning so I switched to high speed for the return. That and the fast tail wind coming off the ocean combined with my stupidity spelled doom.
            It cost $400. No insurance. Even if I could locate it, it was at the very top of a tall tree on the side of a cliff in thick jungle.
            I've ordered another one. Should be at my house when I get back.
            Maybe I learned something and maybe not?

                At that height the limbs were way too thin to be climbing on. Reaching the base of that tree would be nearly impossible without ropes. At least I left her with a good view till the batteries died.

              Pete, on the next one, get either State Farm stand alone drone insurance for 70$ or the DJI refresh.
              Its really some peace of mind.
              On the DJI they need a dead or broken drone for replacement, but the State farm covers for lost drone as well.

                Thanks Mani, If I move up to the quality of your drone I will buy insurance.

                Hope to get some time with my older Phantom 3 soon now that
                I'm getting use of my left arm.
                Not sure why I can't get it to record and take pictures...
                I'd really like a Mavic Pro someday. I'll check into insurance then.
