I went over to Adventure Motorsports of NWF in Pensacola and picked up a 2018 S1000R today. WOW. I brought it home (200 miles) in the truck. I just rode it about 75 miles before it got dark. Can't really evaluate much cause I was busy just hanging on. I only tried ROAD and DYNAMIC modes. Since I was mainly paying attention to the road I didn't fiddle with all the options.
Biggest difference to me, coming from my lovely red pig (2000 KRS), is the acceleration, quickshifter and the feeling that I still need to shift upward while in 6th. This thing feels like it's winding out at 6,000 RPM. I'm still in break in mode so I won't push it until I get the first service next week. I can't imagine what quick shifting at near redline will do!
I do like that quickshifter. I'll write more after I've had her for awhile.
I know, as all of you know, that the spending has just begun.
