Hey Charlie. If you're listening could you post some pictures of your s1000r. I'll be using them as inspiration should I purchase one later this year.

If I didn't live where I do I'd be owning one of these. Not a good enough
                reason to move yet though.
Why the Koozi on the brake reservoir? So the fluid sloshing isn't distracting?

It takes away that "urine sample look" and is cheaper than a Rizoma reservoir.

went with the 2019 1000R to dyno shop today. this is the 2nd time we have dyno tested the 2019 1000R. The first time was to get baseline HP numbers with the bike broken in and completely stock. The bike made 152 RWHP the first dyno test. Today we took it back with a Akrapovic header section installed with the stock BMW Akra end can, no tuning Peak HP was up to 160 RWHP with gains of as much as 8 HP in the mid range. No tuning device was used but we also used a aftermarket air filter and opened up the the entrance to the air box ahead of the filter. Next step will be to install a Bren ECU tune and test again. Interesting thing we found was how much BMW restricted the bike in the lower gears. We tested in 2nd thru 5th gears and BMW has limited the bikes power in 1st thru 4th.

They don't want someone to flip over and die. Bike is darn fast.

Yep, mine would lift the front instantly in the lower gears... the traction control would activate with huge wheelies but I never trusted it to save my ass from looping it!!

Charlie, don't tell me that. I have been living with a certain amount of trust in that computer I'm riding!

Yeah that's my thought beech. My opinion the stock gearing is to low as well. We have gone 2 teeth smaller on the rear sprocket and will probably end up at 3 less. This is not my bike, I am just a interested friend and advisor. I rode the bike before we did anything and you are right it is darn fast. At my age I prefer the K1300 more.

Yes, my K bike has a major place in my heart. I look at the two bikes this way; the K bike if fast and the S bike is quick. The K is also my Buick, very comfortable. The S bike you know you're riding a motorcycle.

Charlie. What model bar end mirrors did you put on your bike? Also are your extra brake lights made by Skene, Weiser or another manufacturer? I have Skene lights on my k bike .... And no complaints. I need to put extra lights on m new Suzuki s1000.

Bobby, the mirrors are from Rizoma. The lights on the S1000R are from Hyperlite, but I put Skenes on my "new" K1300S and I would recommend them...

On the Skene P3 lights there is a turn signal option and a deceleration option. Did you get those, and do you think it's worth it. Seem like great options to me.

                      #59
I didn't get those options, but I kind of wish that I had... maybe I can retrofit them.

I believe you can ad those attributes with individual modules.

The Bren tune is now installed in the bike but we have not re-tested on the dyno yet. The 2 teeth down on the rear sprocket was not enough with the Bren tune. We dropped the rear sprocket to 4 teeth under stock and went to a 520 chain. It helped but the bike still will pick up the front wheel a foot or more from a 2nd gear roll. The bike is more enjoyable to ride with the higher gearing, more like my K1300s. Another thing we modified was brighter headlight bulbs and added a 500ma diode so the low beams now stay on when you go to high beam. This really helped lighting at night.
