New Bike Coming Home

In two weeks I'll pick up a new Suzuki s1000f. It's a sport bike with a small faring...great for daily rides on the twisty roads of SW Oregon. I plan on keeping the K13S for long distance traveling. Although my excitement is more measure than when I was a teenager, I'm nonetheless jacked up about getting this new machine. I'll send pics when I take possession.

That thing looks great. Comfortable seat too! I didn't expect to see Brembo's on it. You'll love it I'm sure!

All the reviews I've read say it's very comfortable. Pretty up right riding position and the foot pegs are not too far back. Seats comfy too from what I've heard, although you never really know until you seat on it for awhile.

How does this compare to the new Katana? More up-market?

Not sure. This is designed as a sport bike with some wind protection, whereas the Katana seems more like a makes street bike. As far as performance, I don't know.

I went with white instead of the blue. If Suzuki had make the new bike in the red from 2016 I would have gone for that...so sexy.

I like the white too. Distinctive, IMHO. And I think it will be more visible to drivers than the blue.

This is actually a pretty interesting bike. Few electronic systems compared to the BMW. Has three traction control settings and abs, and that's about all....less to go wrong/expensive to fix. The engine is modeled on the old GSXR from 2008 and has a long stroke so has really good torque in the low to moderate rpm range. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing how it works. Another good thing is that it cost about half what the BMW s1000r costs...$9k out the door. Incredible deal.

The bike came home today. I'm a happy camper. Took a short ride in between the rain events. Will be lots of fun when the roads dry out.

I've only been on a couple short ride but can tell you I'm really liking the more upright riding position. The bike turns in so easily and hold the line effortlessly. Power is smooth and shifting easy. The throttle is a bit twitchy, which I knew was characteristic of this bike. There are several ways to tame that, so I'll make some adjustments at some point. I'll post more after further riding.

A little more info about this bike. I was looking for an inexpensive sport bike that is comfortable to ride, and I think this one is the ticket. I paid $8900 for a brand new 2018 model, so a pretty good price. Like I mentioned before, this just has traction control and abs, and nothing else. So if you want dynamic damping, cruise control and other tech things, this isn't the bike for you. Suspension is excellent and the engine has very good low range torque. Engine makes 147 hp. Great brakes. And the small faring does a decent job of blocking wind to the body, although not as much as on the k bike. Here is a short, well written review.
