Rebecca Twigg, now in her mid 50's, has been homeless in Seattle for a number of years. I was a big fan back in the 80's.

I read several articles about her. Apparently she doesn't like to work - and thus, is where she is. Too bad.

That's often the case for the homeless with many choosing that lifestyle by age 20.

Not safe for work or really polite company. But makes you grin on the bike.

        GIANT FLEET SL SADDLE REVIEW

Having done about a hundred miles of riding on this saddle, I give it a 5 Star rating. Riding was a combination of hills and flats at fast and slow speeds. Also several 20 minute HIIT sessions on the Turbo Trainer.

With a low amount of padding but with noticeable road jar absorption, long rides and days in the saddle seem possible. Importantly, the cutout provides excellent nerve protection.

Probably the best saddle I've ever had.

I bought two of them for well under $100 combined at a LBS having a pre-remodeling sale. Normally $105 each.

Do they come in sizes. I have always just bought a standard saddle and never bothered with measurements. No brain, no headache.

One size only.. The road jar absorption is very noticeable. It has "Rebound Technology".

No issues noted after a few more long rides.

I watched Rebecca Twigg race in Dublin Ohio back in the 80's. I think this was the bike she rode that day, a Benotto. OTOH, I seem to remember it had some connection to Mexico. Colnago had a "Mexico" model back then. Does anyone have additional information?

Whoops. Internet search shows no "Mexico" model for LeMond bikes.

Thanks. I guess Colnago was the only one with a "Mexico" model.

And the Benotto looks like the bike I remember her racing on. It was a criterium in Dublin Ohio at an office park.

          Walking Tall....

Those who ride drop bar bikes, especially if using the drops a lot, may have posture changes due to the bent over position when riding.

My methods to correct this are as follows.

          1. Farmer's carry: Carry a pair of dumbbells down at your sides while walking slowly. Start this training with light weights and short distances. (See internet for technique.) This exercise may account for over 80% of improvement.

          2. Rowing machine: Again, start with a light load and short workouts. Straighten back as you pull otherwise you'll stress the intervertebral discs.

          3. Chin-ups: Also initiated with a light load using a pull down bar or using your feet on the floor with a "chin-up bar".

          4. Another trick is to wear a ball cap and pull the bill downward so you have to hold your head up straight to look forward.

Please post if you try these with your results.

Drop bars on the bicycle and low bars on my sport bikes. My posture sucks. I will try these, but I also just started PT for a stiff neck. The therapist claims my posture will improve over the next view months.

Back in the day, we had Derosas and Colnagos in our racing group. I was the only one not riding Italian with my 3Rensho.

When I was young enough to race, I was too poor to own any of these bikes. Wildbears, you must have been either a sponsored rider or a trust baby!

One of the team members could acquire bikes wholesale and had done so for many of the club members. In fact, when I was still riding my Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2, he would give me a sales pitch on each training ride. I couldn't afford Italian and instead got the Japanese 3Rensho Super Record Export with the Campy Record gruppo. It was $30 more than my first new car, an Opel Kadett, purchased 15 years earlier.

Interestingly, there was a local hardware store owned by a Pinarello family that carried that brand in their store. Hardware, nails and hammers, and next to these, behind a large storefront window, were the new Pinarello bikes.
