I'm not sure that I am smart enough to figure all that stuff out. The owner of Commonwealth Motorcycles gave me a 15-minute tutorial, but it went in one ear and out the other. And the manual is a sad tome of miniature print. I'll need a magnifying glass to read the damn thing. I did play around with the ride modes a bit though.
I have not had time to finish sticker removal. The last one is on the inside of the windshield. I am considering changing it out to the Puig Race Screen and only want to tear the front apart once. Have you seen how man screws they have holding the windscreen in place? WTF?Comment

One solution to the over crowded roads in the eastern US is to come take a sport riding vacation in the Rocky Mountains. Too many smooth, fast, and uncrowded roads to mention here. Bruce V and Jargon have talked about an epic western road trip but they keep lame excuses for not coming out. To whet your appetites: I just came back from riding Highway 93 from North Fork to Stanley, Idaho. 140 miles of mostly big sweeping 80 mph corners and 100+ straights. No traffic at all, virtually no wildlife, and didn't see a single trooper the whole ride. You guys and gals should seriously consider coming out. Think about as Disneyland for adults.Comment

Bobby, I love riding out west, I just don't enjoy the 1600 miles of getting there. That said, "good riding" is very personal. What is an 80 mph sweeper for you, might mean jailtime to another. These new bikes are really too good almost for the street as I mentioned in a different thread. I've been riding the Multistrada that I just bought at 2-3x the yellow "suggested" speed, and with ease. Suddenly a corner marked as 35 mph is "an 80 mph sweeper" for me. And now that I'm putting myself to sleep blabbering on, I realize again why I enjoy the TRACK so much....
1) No Cops
2) No people in your lane coming at you
3) no debris mid-corner
4) run off/sliding room should you crash so you are not hitting a telephone pole, guard rail, etc.
Then again, I love riding the street and taking in the majestic beauty of places like the Rockies.

Your right, sweepers mean different things to different riders. Personally I don't take too much risk. Out here a corner marked 45 can easily negotiated at 75, especially in the drier regions where there is little vegetation next to the roadway and you can see all the way through the corner. If I lived near a track j certainly would ride there a lot for the safety factors you mentioned. But any track is more than 400 miles from me. So I use the uncrowded roads.

What you say about the track is true Matt, but to Bobby's point riding out west is different than where we live. The population density per square mile in PA and VA is 285.5 and 209.5 respectively; in Wyoming and Montana it's 6 and 7 respectively. Lots of beautiful sparsely populated roads. Much less chance of your #1 and 2. Sign me up.Comment

Best time to ride the Rockies is now. Wer'e passed the rainy season and it's usually not too hot yet. Cool mornings, dry roads, clear skies, warm afternoons, few cops..... it's pretty nice.Comment
