Chevrolet did have a car with a rear motor decades ago called the Corvair. My Dad had a pair of them. They were pretty cool cars. Ralph Nader put an end to those. Something about safety back then. Too bad GM ended that run.

The first chapter covers the Corvair. The suspension issue was corrected. The rest of the book trashed the automotive industry as a whole.

Well, that's probably a good thing, because if you told me that you had, I'd have probably been forced to call bullshit.... it's possible that you haven't seen them on the street because buyers are steering clear of them due to them being a cheap Italian exotic....

Or, it's more probable that you haven't seen one on the street due to production being pushed back to February 2020 by GM as a result of the UAW strikes which moved some timelines. I'm still very excited by the new C8, mind you I will not be purchasing one anytime soon, but I think that they are a great looker and initial reports show that the performance is there.

EDIT: given the incentives that GM is currently offering on the remaining C7's, it seems that I'm not the only one that would rather go down on the new $5 hooker BTW

New Corvettes in general are a pretty crappy investment in terms of resale. Give it a couple of years and there will be really well equipped C8s for half what they initially sold for. After all, it's not like it's going to be a rare or exclusive car like those priced in the stratosphere of Ferraris, et. al. Which BTW there are some pretty price competitive Ferraris out there to the new C8. I still consider this car to be one of the most beautiful sports cars ever offered:



These can be had for less than $75K for low mileage garage queens. Basically a 375 hp go cart that attracts pooty like bees to honey.

One of my brother-in-laws just traded in his new-to-him Corvette Stingray, with only 5k on the odo, for the new mid-engine Stingray...delivery still months away.

I had wanted to buy the trade-in before he started putting a lot of black on it (hood stripes, emblems, wheels, etc.).

I think his new one is dark red. Maybe I'll live long enough to buy that one off of him.

I like it too Karib but all the talk about a $60,000 price is just that when no dealer I have found will sell one for that. I have a 2016 Z07 auto that I will stick with until the C8 Z06 comes out. My Z07 with 776 RWHP will keep me entertained until then.

Read a review about it in the Boston Globe today, thumbs up ?. Mid engine improved everything from handling to tire grip. Corvair on steroids. My Dad would've approved. I see one in my future. The $5 hooker stuff is about the redesign. Changing things bug me.

Saw a red one at the Boston Auto Show Saturday. Thankful it wasn't Arctic White. I would have been searching countrywide to find one. No local dealers have one in any color. My plan was to sit in it, unfortunately it was roped off limits. It sure was purty...
