I saw on the MOA forum Cottowood Pass is now paved.
Cottonwood is between Gunnison and Buena Vista.

That was one of the easiest passes to ride because it was a wide road that was well groomed. I guess that made it easier to pave also.

It is for sure...and it is awesome. We'll have to wait and see what the winter does to the road, but for now it's perfect.

Here's a few photos from our ride over Cottonwood Pass last week. We didn't ride all the way down the far side from Buena Vista. We cut off the pavement about half way down off into the woods on some nice two track with a relatively easy water crossing.








About the 9 mile post going down we saw a couple of meeses in the high meadow:





The first time I've ever seen a moose in Colorado.

It's beautiful asphalt right now but who knows how the winter will treat it before next spring. I think this was one of the passes that opened late this year because of snow pack. Even though we went through there mid-week, there was a fair amount of traffic.

I don't remember seeing a moose on that trip but...Do you remember the encounter with that fucking bull? I have pictures somewhere that I'll try to find.

Funny, I don't know if it was the same incident or some place, yet I feel like I can tell the same story Rob. Back in 2013 when I was out there we went on a "Bill Morgan Adventure". It was not intended to be an off-road trip that I'm aware, yet there we were, Bill on his Multistrada, Mani on his new to him GS, and not to be outdone by the "adventure" bikes, me with my black K1200RS (pictures somewhere). I recall with near certainty that there was at least one other person with us, yet I can not definitively tell you who that was.

Anyway, I don't even recall if it was at the bottom of Cottonwood Pass, but the pass was already wide as someone has previously mentioned about Cottonwood. Most of it was hard pack dirt. When we came to the bottom it was a T-intersection, with a marsh, and the moose was RIGHT THERE.

I hope there is still interest in a Rocky Mountain Rally in 2020... Victory and I have been doing a Colorado ride every year, rally or not, and it would be great to see some old and new friends again!!

Yes, there is still interest. I was supposed to be putting something together and fell down on the job. I will get to it soon. That is unless someone else wants to put in the leg work....

I wouldn't be the one to know about THCR, but you are telling me that it's not a Thurs, Fri, Sat deal Lee? Suppose good (and bad) for me to know. I was hoping that it was the standard and was gonna try to work some magic... see if I could get work to fly me down for a customer visit and then drag some chrome on the way to THCR on my rented Harley.
