There's also a KOA west of town and Cedars of Lebanon State Park south of town looks like a nice shady place to camp.

Yep, usually LOTS of vendors.
Typical MOA event, lots of sitting around for them. Not bad, just totally opposite of a Refined Hooligan gathering.
By "back then" you mean yesterday, no? We had a 1985 K100RS and used to go to Bulow Campground for Bike Week. K bikes we openly shunned. Weird, but like Fontana at the RA if you were there then you KNOW it happened.... Also, back then, there was a K bike vs. R bike vibe going on in the organization, with the R bikers being in most positions of authority.
We recently renewed after a loooooong lapse. They're good people who love Kermit chairs and farkling GSs over riding for fun. Most of the long distance riders do it for stickers and probably couldn't tell you what the Rio Grande bridge on US 64 in New Mexico looks like but as mentioned just a sentence or two prior, they're good people. Having a destination makes a trip better for us and the possibility of travel again makes membership worthwhile.
So this info is mostly for those who've never been to a BMWMOA rally. Go. You'll probably walk around and shake your head at a lot of things but it's still fun. Life's too short to skip out on a weekend of fun.
