We dropped the rear sprocket to 4 teeth under stock and went to a 520 chain. It helped but the bike still will pick up the front wheel a foot or more from a 2nd gear roll. The bike is more enjoyable to ride with the higher gearing, more like my K1300s. Another thing we modified was brighter headlight bulbs and added a 500ma diode so the low beams now stay on when you go to high beam. This really helped lighting at night.
Any results yet? The CT110 might need a tweak..

Not on the dyno. covic has really put a crimp in our testing. The local 1/8th mile drag strip opened for one day and then was closed down again because folks did not wear masks or social distance.

One thing about the bike is that the low beam goes out when the high beam is selected. Really cuts out the lighting. Here is an elegant solution to the problem that will take you an hour of fiddling around. It only requires a jumper wire carefully installed. No harm to the bike, no wild relay system works very slick.

We did something similar on the K1200RS way back when......
There was a common ground wire in the headlight that couldn't carry
the amperage. The wire melted and smoked the headlight lens.
The remedy was to add another ground wire in the headlight.
Either Lee or Bert (I believe) can confirm this.

I remember a headlight overheating ground wire problem, but didn't remember the cause.

If I remember correctly I thought the brown ground wire was too small of a gauge wire causing it to burn up, remedy was to replace with a larger gauge wire.

Correct, ran a separate ground wire for each bulb.

This is what we did to my friends 1000R back in September Beech, huge improvement.

Nice work. This is the way home-made solutions should always work out (but seldom do for me)!

Finally got the bike on the dyno yesterday. Modifications are: Akra header with stock end can, new low restriction air filters from Bren, Bren intake temp sensor relocation kit, Bren ECU tune, Some minor opening of the intakes to the air box for better air flow, lighter 520 chain & sprockets, Final gearing is now 4 less teeth than stock on the rear sprocket. Dyno pulls were 5th gear and the bike made 164.05 RWHP. The bike showed 165 MPH on two high speed runs. Very happy with the results so far. The bike is more pleasant to ride due to the taller gearing and still has more than enough roll on due to the additional TQ & HP. We did one standing start hard leave from 6000 RPM's and 10 to 15 feet out the front wheel still came up far enough that he had to back off the throttle to get it back on the ground before continuing the run.

Edited: the 6 tooth smaller rear sprocket was a misprint, the bike has a 4 tooth smaller rear sprocket. Should have proof read.

Took my S bike out for a romp this afternoon. Up the Skagit river road for 50 miles until a no passage stop where the river cut the road last winter. Being a dead end it was fun but I do respect neighborhoods. So light, what fun. This bike is so darn quick. Not stock silencer for a 17, came from the older bikes. Smaller, lighter, still has embossment on the inside so not after market for the Leo guys. Technically not correct but the best sounding exhaust bmw ever put on a bike. The drilling machine in back weighs 6 times the bike. Hope it does not fall over.

Beech I have ridden the 1000 we have been working on for the last year twice. It is a dream to ride in the twisties and now is blindingly fast in a straight line. A little small for my big frame though, the 1300 still fits me better.

Pete, do you still own the 2018 S bike? I have a bunch of parts for it. I sold mine. Before that bike I had a white 2016. It had a fabulous silencer that was stock BMW. I found that a Remus mid piece would allow me to mount that previous OEM silencer to my 18. Sounds good but not crazy. I have a complete clutch, a sports plate that changes out with the rear seat to mount stuff for travel. Lots of little stuff if you want any of this I'll give it to you but you will have to pay postage. My personal favorite is the silencer. Here is the white bike with the oem exhaust. The Remus mid pipe cost me 260$ and the guy in California (remus outlet) was not going to sell it to me and they are not available now. I need to find a good home for all this stuff. When I traded in the bike I put a note in the owners manual with my name and email saying I had free parts for the new owner but it has been a year no requests. I see my gray bike is in the thread.
I have purchased a white 2024 M100R that will be shipped to me, probably 4 weeks. Report coming. Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	109.5 KB ID:	55324

Pete, it seems to me you just got that bike. And it's gone already?

Well have a new M1000R to stave off old age. Like the old guy with a gold chain and his new corvette sans gold chain. Only 200 miles due to serious rain but is seriously amazing bike. Beats you up of course, so quick. 440 lbs. makes it something. Lots to learn.

Geez I love this. Just because a bloke gets more experienced, it doesn't mean he's dead.

That M1000R is the 21st century version of "The Space Bike" that used to freak the squares in the Bay Area back in the '70s. Note the number of this post. Couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried.

Well 6 YEARS later. Another S bike. This time an M10000R, 2024, but that black and blue 2025 S1000R with 170 hp and tuned for mid range work looks super. Too bad I jumped the gun. This toy rips. Warp drive over 8500 rpm. Tuning the suspension a must. Avoiding bad bumps a must. I have serious fun with this beast. This bike has some close gearing and a 47 vs 45 of older S1000R bikes tooth rear sprocket so it really can take off if you want. Nice that it has several stages of wheelie control plus a multitude of other computer tuning options.
I got the sickness as a kid when I heard that a vincent could go 150 mph.
