Despite the almost universal dislike for seats, I've never changed out a seat on any BMW motorcycle I've ever owned. I just finished a 7500 mile ride to California and back on the OEM seat and it was not great but tolerable for all day in the saddle day after day. A friend on that trip had put an aftermarket seat from Isotta on his R1300GS and wouldn't' shut up about how comfortable it was so after returning back home, and with more long trips planned this year, decided I'd give it a try:

Isotta says this seat employs something they call a prostetic channel, a softer ares running down the middle of the dead front to back. I've only been out for a few short rides on it but I think I'm going to really like what this seat does for my backside. Everybody has a different backside and tolerance level for seats on long rides and I've always contended that your own personal fitness level has more to do with your all day comfort on the bike than what you're sitting on. But the Italians at Isotta may have designed something that is a nice improvement.

I also got tired of the weak ass battery in the bike and even though it passed a load test it's now sitting on the bench while a new EarthX ETX36C battery is in the bike. Much more energetic starting the bike and I no longer get Low Voltage messages if I turn the bike on and don't start it immediately.

That’s plush!! No doubt I’ll be shopping to replace the custom Saddlemen as it’s over 10 years old and is getting stiff. Doing a 30 day coast-to-coast in August. Can’t be cheap, butt acceptable compared to doing nothing. Great looking bike!

We took the little filly out for a spin to our local dealer to schedule several services on the GS. It seemed a bit complicated for a phone call as our dates aren't very flexible.

    - June, tires (Dunlop TMM) and oil change
    - Sept, 12k service
    - October, tires (Anakee 2)

The K1300S never ceases to amaze us. We can't figure out how we used to ride cross country on her but she still inspires an ear to ear grin before you even get to 2nd gear.

For a bike that's a bit weird, the K1300S proves to be a good cross-country bike - for one person. For two people? Your names need to be Tim and Susan!
