I did something novel on Wednesday, I actually rode the bike! Took Elizabeth up to the mountains to get some apple cider. Never seen the bike run so cool since the maintenance.

I put my third Nav VI gps on the bike. There needs to be better, or some, quality control when these expensive gizmos are made. The previous two nav 6s just started going crazy with screen jitters and random screens of locations would pop up with the GO button. I never touched the screen, but the gps acted as if I had. Of course, i paid for the first Nav 6 when I bought the bike, Dec 2019. The replacements were covered under warranty. Bring back my original ZUMO!

And just to add to the fun of 3 Nav VIs with problems, for the third time I have a "spring strut adjustment faulty" warning on my bike. The last time this happened, ADV BMW replaced the spring strut or whatever. At that time, there was only one of the items to be found in the US. My warranty runs out this month. I'm not feeling too confident that this problem won't happen again after it's fixed or looked at for the third time.

Well, I got my bike back last night. The dealer checked the strut (all ok), updated the software and the malfunction code went away. hope this is the end of it. BTW, the dealer picked up my bike (free) from my home since it's still under warranty. They replaced the strut last year in December and it comes with a two-year warranty. So, even though my bike warranty ends this month, I still have another year warranty on the strut. As I rode home last night on nasty Interstate 64, I was appreciative of my Denali lights I added to the bike. They make a huge difference. I have a set of lights on my front axle and another set up higher. The axle lights come on when the bike starts, The second set of light are turned on by as switch. Money well spent even as I try to avoid night riding.Originally posted by allikanbe View PostAnd just to add to the fun of 3 Nav VIs with problems, for the third time I have a "spring strut adjustment faulty" warning on my bike. Getting ready for Texas. It took two years and I'm stove up but she's done.
Swapped out the new headlight assemble.
New air filters.
New centerstand bushings.
Oil and filter change.
Metal quick disconnects on the gas tank.
I'll change tires in a month or two, waiting on a very warm day.

Good to see you're back in the saddle.

I really want the R1250RS, but the dual sport just makes sense here with all the gravel roads.
My dealer had a black one on the floor and I didn't fall in love with it. Had it been a different
color, then maybe.
Glad your getting better.... be well !

I have a friend that just had his hip replaced. He's wondering if he's going to be able to take a very long ride this summer. So was it about 4 months before you felt like you could ride?

I put tires on three bikes. I spent so much that I couldn't afford siping on the last set.

Next up is an oil change and GP shifter.

Did my annual services on the GTL. Oil and filter, brake fluid flush, final drive oil change. And even though it is not on the maintance list, pulled the drive shaft and lubed the splines and installed steel quick fuel lines disconnects. (new road 6 Michelins last year). Parked it on the lift. A couple of short rides and back on the lift. A week later see oil on the lift table. Rear shock leaking. So I start doing some searches on the internet. A stock rear shock is about $3000! Shocking!!! But I can go aftermarket much cheaper. Wilbers. They can be installed after parts are taken off the stock shock. And there is a dealer not that far from me, EPM Performance Imports. So I went to see them. They ask questions about rider and passenger weight. Took my old shock and order the correct spring rate. Eleven days latter I got the Wilber back all assemble and ready to go back on the GTL. $680. Not bad. No shipping, no tax and 10% off for cash. So next year I might do the front.
