      A blue zone lifestyle includes physical activity, low stress, rich social interactions, a local whole-foods diet, and low disease incidence. While rich social interactions may not be available to all people, they are the equivalent of happiness. And happiness may be achieved through a variety of other avenues.

      Being happy also reduces stress.

        Root cause of obesity for most people:

        Eating a diet high in sugar and fats has long been known to increase a person's risk of obesity - because of the excess calories and energy dumps.

        Scientists now propose that the fructose in corn syrup & added sugars uses up fuel for cells, leading to hunger

        The biological changes make it physically easier to gain fat weight and harder to lose weight.

        Scientists claim to have found root cause of obesity for most people: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...ies-carbs.html

          I don't know about all of this stuff. I DO KNOW, however, that stress is indeed a killer. Avoid stress. If unavoidable, do something, anything, to lower it.

              The more you use the technique, the faster and better the response. Don't give up if it doesn't seem to do much in the beginning. Note that the smile has to include your entire face and eyes. Some even feel it spread to the rest of the body.

            I'm under a lot of stress right now. Mostly business related. Went for a physical and showed a 170/100. Needles to say but I'm now on blood pressure medicine and for good measure cholesterol meds also.I'm back down to the high 120's low 130's. After a long bicycle ride I show below 100/60 for a short while.

              Damn, Pete, take care! I would think that soccer and your cycling would have some positive effects. However, stress IS a killer. My blood pressure, weight, and heart rhythm all improved immensely just a short while after retiring. I didn't realize at the time, how stressful my job actually was and how it affected my health.

              Agree completely with your viewpoint. Also it seems that aerobic and weight lifting have different effects on the heart. Both increase the size of the heart. However with aerobic this is due to increased chamber size (and greater volume ejected per beat) and with weight lifting a thickening of the cardiac walls (as happens with hypertension). With the former there is also angiogenesis/neovascularization and vessel dilation with resultant better perfusion of the myocardium. With the latter, vessel size is not affected in the face of a thickened myocardium resulting in decreased perfusion ratio.

              "soccer, and sport f*:king" two of my favorites. I can't play soccer anymore because of my right knee so I've doubled up on the other.

              Now they are saying that any amount of alcohol consumption is bad. No positives whatsoever. However consumption at 1 oz/day or less probably does not cause significant health problems for most people.

              OTOH, the toxic breakdown product is proven to inhibit cellular repair. To include that of neurons and skeletal muscle fibers. The latter may affect post exercise recovery and mass.

                Oh, yeah? Alcohol has many positive effect. It certainly makes me more intelligent and better looking whenever I use it liberally. I use it "off label."

                This pill will become a necessary vaccine once Fauci and Big Pharma figure out how to make money off of it.

                Consider having the dental office give you a dental diagram marked with areas of plaque buildup so you can focus on these areas between cleanings.

                The benefits of an alcohol free life....

                * Lower BP.
                * Lower resting HR.
                * Better sleep.
                * Less cellular damage/aging.
                * Less brain fog.
                * More energy.
                * Less nocturnal micturition.
                * Less driving/accident risk.
                * Less cancer risk.
                * Less next-day cortisol elevation and anxiety.
                * Lower cost especially when eating out (two martinis run about as much as a steak although if you have the martinis you'll probably also order the steak and more).
                * Lower appetite (alcohol increases appetite).
                * Lower body fat (with decreased risk of metabolic syndrome).
                * Lower blood lipids (these can increase in hyperlipidemia, familial and non familial).

                Additional note: A previous study showed that on average Mormon men were the longest living of any group in the US. At the time, most did not smoke, drink alcohol or use caffeine.

                Seed Oil and Increased Cancer in Young People

                Could snack foods be partially responsible, such as potato chips, that are prepared by deep frying in canola and other oils?

                Seed oils can produce carcinogens when heated, especially if reused.

                Note that comparable carcinogens are reportedly not produced by animal fat.
