Yeah, from what I've seen of Mulholland there are comparisons. Highly trafficked, lots of squids, stupidity abounds. I have had everything from cars and trucks, to semi's, to Goldwings, HD's and whatever cross the dyl into my lane. Rolling roadblocks, aggressive drivers, the whole nine yards. The biggest issue is that the road is super technical, so it encourages Ricky Racer to use it as his personal track. It can be nuts.
The solution is to go during the middle of the week, early (before 10 am) or late (after 5 pm). That way the number of bad riders/drivers are not there and you do get more sane riders.

I've got to agree, the Dragon isn't my favorite road. But it IS very close and a quick ride to Deal's Gap and back, maybe taking in the Foothills Parkway is easily doable on a weekday after work. Just to let you know, work is still a thing.Originally posted by Loggiebone View Post
Yep... the road is still great (although I prefer the Cherohala or Richard Russell in my knock o the woods) but the notariety has killed it except for weekdays.

A bit late to the party , but congrats on the new ride nonetheless !
I've ridden the Dragon 4 times , 3 of them right after the Kentucky rally , Monday morning leaving Sevierville at around 8am , and every time I had the road all to myself . But it doesn't come close to the Cherohala as far as enjoyable riding for me ...

I don't know if it's gotten that much worse. I first rode it in 2006, then pretty much every year since then. It has been a shit show for quite some time. But, as I said, there are times to go where that is minimized. During DGR, if I even go to the Dragon, I make it my first or last road of the day and only on Thursday and only in the morning if it is a Friday because the meatheads don't start showing up in numbers until Friday afternoon. Just in time for the weekend clusterfuck.
