Yeah, I know. It took me a long time to get over that thought as well and then I ran into a bunch of ne'er do wells that are GS Trophy kind of riders that called me a pussy if I didn't ride with them - and that's when I busted my ass in that energetic high-side. After that, I learned how to actually ride it off-road in some gnarly places and enjoy that now as much as on the road. That said, I do have a WR250R that scratches my itch for the single track with much more gusto and fun.

No disrespect intended for anyone that doesn't take their expensive bikeapotomus off in the deep woods. I said I did it but I didn't say it was a smart thing to do.

On a related note, life on my GS became so much more fun and exciting when I surrendered to the notion that dirt naps are all part of the off-road experience. I've visited upon my GS every kind of biff from drops not-in-motion to a really energetic high side on a single track trail. Nothing more than scratches and rode the bike home needing no repairs every time. Chicks dig scars especially when they're on your ADV bike parked in front of the Starbucks and you'll be the envy of every poser there if you bike shows up looking like this:

I only take my GS on grass :-), Kidding aside I do enjoy taking the GS on dirt roads and ATV trails but not in single track territory I keep that for the WR.

DGR is about two weeks away. I am pretty fired up for it. Putting new shoes on the Ape for my track day this week and that will be it for prepping the bike.

I haven't heard from anyone besides MattB on doing dual sport riding. Is this still of interest to anyone? If not, I won't bring my KTM. If you want to do adventure riding that can still be accommodated very easily, I just need to know. And for fun, I'll add some pictures.

Rob, it would definitely be possible, and it would be great to have you. While I can't answer for JJ, I won't charge you to watch, or for autographs.

In all seriousness, you'd be fine to come and observe, VIR has gotten money hungry, I'm not sure if they would try to charge a nominal fee (less than $10 I'd guess), but you could try to tell them that you were there to ride if you can up on your BMW GSA-GP.

Riding will run roughly 8:30-5pm. As Monday is the North course (2.25 miles) and Tuesday is the Full course (around 4 miles), you would see us lap much more often on Monday.

We did a drive by last weekend. Creekside had a huge Harley gathering going on, getting them ready for us I suppose.
BTW, the Maggie Valley restaurant next door has excellent home cooked meals.
