VIR to Creekside appears to be about 4 hours. I'm slow, but usually packed up, showered and ready to leave by 6-6:30pm so I'll probably roll to Creekside on Tuesday night unless there's a compelling reason not to. If a group of us stop somewhere for a nice dinner, maybe stop in the Hickory, NC area for the night instead.Originally posted by justjoe View Post
That looks about right! Although there will be some travel time in there from VIR to Creekside Lodge.
I currently have my toy hauler torn apart for "renovations"
but assume that I'll be rolling in it and home is wherever you happen to stop for the night.

I'm considering taking my toy hauler to VIR and bringing it back home before the rally.Originally posted by MattB View Post

Is it the removing the mirrors that's a deal breaker for you?
Kidding, but serious, while I don't have a GS(A) in front of me to look at, as I work down the list, I see:
- Bikes must have oil filter safety wired. ... Is the GS oil filter even visible, or is it INSIDE the block like some BMW's? Assuming it is visible, what is required is to put a screw clamp around the filter, then fasten a wire from the screw clamp to a fixed place on the frame. This is a 10 minute task if you stop for a Budweiser after installing the clamp.
- Remove mirrors, tape over all glass and lights AND tape over the speedometer. You do not need the speedometer on the racetrack. It is an unsafe distraction. ... Eric, I'll remove your mirrors (do GS's even come with mirrors?) and tape your bike while you drink another Budweiser.
- Side stand engine kill switch must be operational and will be inspected at Tech. If the sidestand engine kill switch fails, you will be required to zip-tie the kickstand in the up position. ... Assuming your side stand switch works, there's nothing to do here. Otherwise, I'll bring you a zip tie. I have professional training with zip ties, so I'll install the zip tie while you enjoy another Budweiser since I know that you love them.
- Tires must be Sport or Race compound with good tread depth. New tires are recommended. ... I assume that this could be the only REAL deal breaker for you, maybe, possibly. If THIS is your only REAL hold up, I can ensure that I bring my portable NoMar tire changer and balancing equipment along. I typically take it to the track anyway, but I'll likely be squeezed for space on this trip with bringing 4 bikes.
- Liquid cooled bikes must run water only or racing approved coolant only, no anti-freeze. The racing approved coolant must be approved by WERA or CCS. Motul's product MoCool is approved by both CCS and WERA. .... is this difficult with the GSAW? Serious question, no way of me knowing. Usually this takes an hour or so on my sport bikes once the plastics are out of the way.
- Installing the MotoGP chip .... you'd have to talk to JustJoe on this one, I have no experience in adding the MotoGP chip that adds 200hp and removes 100 lbs of weight.Matt

Funny guy, but seriously tires and coolant are the concern and I don't think I can run with the klim gear.Originally posted by MattB View Post

Thanks Doug, will keep that in mind should I decide on doing the track day.Originally posted by Loggiebone View PostEric, Ive got a set of Dainese leathers that you can borrow but you'd have to figure out how to get them.
