"It ain't over 'til it's over." or "the fat lady sings."

This morning one of the locals at the OST gave this to Deb.
He turned it on his lathe.

While we were in Terlingua, there was a BIG fire in Big Bend. We heard people staying at the campground & Lodge in the Chisos Basin, were evacuated. It was still going strong when we left 2 days later.

We met up with Charlie & Victory in Terlingua and had a good time hanging out with them & drinking El Grito... tasty & refreshing on a hot day. It was so hot in Terlingua, we dispelled any notion of drinking liquor & drank beer exclusively during our stay & through the rest of the rally. We all rode together to Bandera & along the way, we ran into a big traffic jam on US90. Gary quizzed a trucker chic about what happened & was told it was caused by an 18 wheeler that rolled over on a turn. When we rode by, the cab & trailer were totally mangled. The riders of the bikes in the picture, parked their steeds and walked way up over the hill & while they were gone, traffic started to roll & then their bikes were in the way of the traffic back up. Funny.

This year's TCHR was a good time with a high degree of debauchery & camaraderie. I was glad that so many decided to join in & get back in the swing of things. Victory rode all the way from Oregon by way of AZ to ride in with Charlie. Bill Morgan & his sidekick Dale, trailered down to Karl's in East Texas & they all rode in together. Tim & Susan rode in from Terlingua by way of their month long wanderings out west. Lee & Debbie rode down from Iowa to join in the fun. Mike, his dad & uncle made the scene & did all the grilling for our cookout. Pete drove over from Tallahassee with his S1000R & his roomie Tim, rode down from Kansas. Tyson 'Bad Back' Branyan & Mike 'Pretty Boy' Knox, teamed up on the road & joined us to make our soiree complete.

Now all I have to do, is figure out if I can make a couple more rallies this year!! Thanks everybody & it was great to see all of you.

Just what are "safety meeting"? Not the same meaning as I
thought apparently as ours happened at 4:20 sharp.

After we checked into the Antelope Lodge & got settled in, I walked over to the office to buy a couple of beers. While I stood there waiting to pay, I noticed there was a huge stack of toys & games for kids. One of them was Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, so I asked the kid at the counter if I could take it back to the room. He had never heard of it before, so we had a few matches... and yes, I knocked his block off! It must've been a 2nd or 3rd gen model because each time a robot head got knocked off, it didn't make that weird sound when the head popped up.

Wes, you, Curt, K-1 Dude, Lee, Susan and a few others are great photo-journalists. Some of you all are great at capturing the antics of others and telling a compelling story at the same time. Thanks to all for great contributions. (I might redouble my own efforts to learn how to post photos, LOL!)

Victory arrived at my house in Show Low, AZ on April 7th after having ridden from his home in Estacada, OR. We just chilled for a couple of days, planning to leave on April 11, but we got restless and left on the 10th, with a rather short ride to Silver City, NM. This is a shot from Hwy 180 in NM...

Next morning, we departed for Terlingua to find some of the usual suspects... I shot this video with my new-to-me GoPro 7 (courtesy of Victory) as we approached Terlingua... (best viewed at highest resolution possible)

Thanks, Pete for remembering to take photos throughout the rally, and to then post them. You got some nice ones.

I like the video. Two desperados make an appearance at 1:30 on the video.

Biker babes? Were they actually babes? Was Pete over there sniffing around or was he frightened off. It is hard for me to admit that Pete is the bellweather.
