We headed up to Foothills Parkway, where my wife and I will go to just talk about things. This is the overlook the day before.

A few things need to be pointed out in this picture. The first is the side panel. This is the one that was replaced from William's wreck. We bought a used side panel from a black bike. William had to get the stickers off, sand it, spray it and then, of course, apply the stickers. It came out looking pretty good. The second piece comes in the form of a thank you to Doug and MaryAnn for Julie's gear. She absolutely loved it and it fits like a charm. Also, both of them are wearing the Gerbings so I thank you again, my friend, we appreciate the gear!

Just so you know, the boy has enough of me in him to make my wife's head snap around and say, "WTF!"

Of course, I had to jump into the picture, to pretty things up a bit! And no, William isn't my real kid and the proof is that he doesn't even look like me!

Since it was his first outing in a while we headed back home, never stopping for lunch. We did let him choose a place to go for dinner and he wanted steak, so that's where we went. It was a great day and he was really happy to be back on the bike. I thought he was done with it after his get off and long absence, but this short ride (less than 100 miles) might have been enough to spark his interest again. And it didn't hurt any having his mom out riding with us. Now if we could just figure out who to meet for lunch on our next ride to say, NC...

What a beautiful family and a happy honkin' birthday to William! He has a fantastic bike! Gorgeous is Julie in her riding gear! Maybe we can arrange a meet up at Tellico Plains one Saturday soon?

A little bit of background. TN has two scholarship programs for HS graduates. Tennessee Promise pays for two years of community or technical college and the Hope Scholarship. William decided to take advantage of both of these programs and in doing so he can get his Bachelors without any student debt. So, he is going to Pellissippi State (local two-year community college that feeds the University of Tennessee) and will then transfer to UT Knoxville. Or so that is the plan right now. He does have the opportunity to go to any TN school, but he can live at home and save his money (or rather, spend his money on food, PC gaming, and books).

Agreed. My daughter is asking about a bike now as well and that would be so friggin' cool.

Well Joe, you can tell William he got that out of the way..... you know, "two types of riders".
Glad he got back in the saddle.
