This hill can be tricky if wet from rain or horse piss.

Before our trip I put kick stands on our hybrid bikes.
On mainstreet, bicycle have to park on the street and can't lean against any horse hitching posts or
          light poles.

That LOOK bicycle was neat. Maybe only the rear wheel needs replacing and the rest of the bike is OK. As to the car - Who cares?

UCI Road and Para-Cycling World Championships start September 21st. Men's Elite begins on the 22nd. Taking place in Zurich, Switzerland.

Cathy and her family lived in Zurich during her high school years and beyond. (Her parents weren't thrilled when she started hanging around an Okie.) Been to Zurich many times. Great place to be and a great place for a race. The UCI can find some serious hills if they want.

Tour of the Scioto Ohio River Valley yesterday. 100 miles, 1,902 ft elevation climbing.

9 hours for me. That includes about an hour for lunch and breaks. Another 30 minutes to help a rider that had gone into heat exhaustion. Most finished in 7 hours or less. A number of older guys did not finish and had to be sagged back. One guy passed out while riding. Don't know how bad the crash was but did get passed by a couple of emergency vehicles. BTW, this was the 62nd and last TOSRV. Traffic has gotten to be a factor making some sections risky.

I've done a few Fondo bike events as support on the GSA. One in Lehigh Valley, PA
and a few here in Vermont. It's very rewarding to encourage some of these riders on
to the finnish. Big difference riding in these hills vs a flat rail trails.
One guy flew in from Washington State to do the 100 mile ride, he finished well behind
the other riders, but he finished. The other support riders wanted to get him in the van
and take him back. But I kept going back and checking on him. He was making progress
and just had to make it over the steepest section on Breadloaf Mt and it was a down hill
for four miles and then a cruise for another ten and he's home free. He did it.
What pissed me off was the other support riders that wanted to throw him in the van so
they could go home were all celebrating his finish by escorting him through town to the
finish line. I've been asked to do some since but have had to decline due to other commit-
ments. The pay is usually about $300 plus room and meals.

Mike, Thanks for your efforts. No mountains on the TOSRV but the section from Chilecothe to Waverly is a roller coaster with many short but steep climbs. Wind is also a factor. We were supposed to have a tail wind all day long and of course that turned into a head wind. When I could draft a group, speed was about 14-15 mph.

This is the 2nd Swiss rider to die in competition in Switzerland in as many years.

Gino Mader was getting really strong and beginning to make his presence felt in the peloton. Muriel was just a youngster with a lot of talent. Too bad we've lost them both.

What we do is dangerous. I tell every newbie that if they are not prepared for risks, they need to stay home.

Cycling has the highest fatality rate of any professional sport.

I hate FloBikes. They post spoiler headlines on nearly every video.. For those of us who need to watch replays and highlights, they destroy all the suspense that professional bike racing can provide.
