Tyson we stopped at the airport again to see what was there.



Another couple rode in and while visiting they said they were from Plano TX.
We said we had a friend in Plano and when they asked the name it turned out they were next door neighbors.
Their neighbor is Curt Presson.


The marina in town also had some nice boats


A thick fog rolled in after I took this picture. While taking to the owner of the next boat who was getting ready to leave we could here the fog horn of a passing freighter.
close to us but we could not see it.
I asked if he had equipment to see other ships and he said big ships would show on his screen but not small boats.

When those cruise ships disembark their passengers, is the Island ready for them, or is it just a crush of people everywhere?

It's not noticeable. Someone told us they also carry 300 to 350 passengers. They get loaded on carriage tours or go to the Grand Hotel for lunch.

Fog this morning then partly cloudy with temps in the mid 60s.
We're in Marquette Mich.
It the weekend for the yearly 100 mile mountain bike event.

Is it to late for you to do a day of the race entry? Heck, I saw that you have bikes with you. Surely they would be okay in that race, so long as they ridden well.

I don't think a hybrid with 700x38 tires would do well in a mountain bike race
I know I would not

Lake Superior




Ore dock


No longer connected to the shore. Downtown Marquette.
There's one on the north edge of town where you can watch the ore dropped from train cars, down chutes into ore ships.

Lee, you guys always find interesting spots to sit and ites to see. Thanks for the photos of some places that I'm unlikely to ever see.

Yep that's the one that's no longer used. I'm glad they left the concrete structure and chutes.
The chutes are in the raised position.

The corn canyons are disappearing with the fall harvest....

Deb, I understand Hi-Vz - I don't understand a bicycle parka of a beautiful day.

Before we left, a combine was in the corn field 4 or 5 blocks north of us.

And there are clouds of brown bean dust in the air around here.

Looking out our widow at Lake Michigan.


The last 2 days we had a good view of Lake Superior
Before that we were about 200 feet from Lake Huon but had to go out front to see it.

The next 2 nights we have a view of the Mississippi at The Landing in Guttenburg Iowa.

Great looking place!

Our room is nice. Walk into the front of the building on ground floor and the back door of our room opens onto a balcony.
We're close to lock and dam #10 on the Mississippi.




Ate at a fancy place


The owner sat and visted wih us a long time. Quite a character


When he took our orders I asked for fries with my catfish. He tells me, there's better options on the board, try again
He was right

I don't get jealous easily, but you guys come up with the best places to visit.

Debbie really enjoyed our stay at Guttenberg and wants to go back

A cruise down the Mississippi is on my bucket list.

Lee, I don't see any people on the boat. Did you see any? I understand these Mississippi cruises are pricey.

Tyson, I only saw a few people out on the balconies. Maybe they were eating lunch?? The time stamp on my pictures were between noon and 12:30
Several people have told me the Mississippi cruises cost more than a ocean cruise of the same number of days.
