I finally got a block of time to go wrenching on the new bike so I installed the SW-Motech foot pegs and the Touratech Pannier racks. Both are really solid bits of upgrades but I did run in to a slight fitment problem with the racks. The cross bar brace across the back pushes against the back of the license plate holder:

Not a big deal but it bothered me that it would be rattling around back there and showing the wear over time. A call to Touratech revealed the source of the problem. You know what bikes destined for Germany don't have? Reflectors. It's the US spec bikes that require reflectors that weren't accounted for when the geometry of the cross brace was designed. Touratech advised that many owners have removed their reflectors but that they are almost always destroyed in the removal. I put a vinyl bumper dot on it for now and I've ordered some dual sided 3M tape that I'll wrap the brace with.

There was a recall on my '15 GSA to add those to the side of the rack,
because when the bags were removed, there weren't any reflectors.
I was told once, that in VT you are supposed to have a certain amount
of square inches of reflective tape on your helmet.
That may have saved a guy once. He was going home from working
the late shift, riding on the interstate. apparently he hit a deer and went
down in the road. Two cars came along and ran over him and he died
of the injuries.
Can you imagine laying there thinking... Wow, thank goodness I'm alive
and then getting run over.

I finally put that bike lift I got this year to use on the big bike. Worked a treat for keeping my old knees off the floor.

Geez..... I need to tidy up my garage !
I really like my lift. Right now I have my Honda ES6500
generator on it to replace the starter.
I did move the battery maintainer from the GSA to the
Tiger.
The R100RS needs fork seals, so I'll tackle that next. I
really should sell it, I never get to ride the thing .

That's basically the Harbor Freight lift that I bought through a huge pricing mistake at Walmart online. It was supposed to be priced at nearly $600 (a really good deal) but instead was mistakenly priced at $300. A few of us snapped them up before they discovered the problem. It's hydraulic very similar to a floor jack. Pump it up with a foot pedal to raise it and release the pressure to lower it. I put the Condor wheel chock on it to replace the crappy one that came with it.

After many many times getting it upright I felt it was time for an enlarger and extender. After a professional installation and new lubricants the results were even better than expected. It used to be leaned over too far, but no more. Getting it up and rocked back is much easier.
After that success story we went to lunch.

Recipe of the Day:
Get you a pan and layer the bottom with vanilla wafers. There is tepid debate which is correct for pan placement, flat side vs rounded side down. Everyone knows flat is the correct side. Then add a layer of sliced bananas, then pour vanilla pudding over all of that, not a lot, just enough for filler and repeat the layer process as much/or as high up in the pan as you want to go. The above pic depicts a restaurant version for banana pudding. OK perhaps and a bit misleading but can be somewhat emotionally damaging if you are expecting perfection.Last edited by Susan; 23 hours ago.

Banana pudding was a staple dessert growing up in the Deep South.
