They finally opened Maryland up to 60+ year old coots with diabetes so I got my first stick yesterday at one of our mass vaccination sites. I have to admit that for the volume of vaccines they were dosing out yesterday it was a very well run operation. Lots of volunteers, nothing confusing or left to chance and very efficiently done. Imagine the huge parking lot at Six Flags pretty much full of cars queued to go through stages of verification of appointment, questionnaire of current status, actually getting poked, then sorted in to 15 and 30 minute waiting lots to be released. Thousands of cars moving through there and from start to finish took me about an hour.

I just have one question now. Is it normal that I now seem to be having a craving for human brains....

2nd Pfizer shot yesterday, did some detailing on my car & a 4 mile walk afterwards. Needed Tylenol before bed and again at 2AM to sleep. Tired and achy with a slight headache today.

Had my 2nd Moderna shot last week.
Drank plenty of water before and afterwards.
      Exercised that afternoon.
      Very little arm pain.
Slight fever. Didn't know I had any fever until I checked my temp for kicks.
For some reason I did not sleep much the first night.
My stomach was a little queazy off and on for a couple days.

We did immediate post vaccination medication with one dose each of Tylenol (NSAIDs are counter indicated) and Benadryl.

No symptoms except pain at the injection site this time. Last time the vaccines were painless. This time I think they used Rooter Rooters. Bad technique!

Second shot yesterday. Felt like shit all day. I wanted to crawl out of my skin, like the onset of flu. Rested and watched the copper trial. Guys cooked. Hot shower and all is good now.

What company made your vaccine? I have had the first Moderna, but am seriously debating even getting the second.

That first shot should give you a high level of protection...like 90 percent. Why are you contemplating not getting the second one?

85-90% seems pretty good. I have atrial fibration (controlled) and wonder if the side-effects outweigh the benefits.

I was sucked in by the medical community in 1976 and got terribly ill after taking the swine flu vaccine. That was for a pandemic that never even tried to happen. Fool me once, shame on you . . ."

I got my 2nd poke of the Pfizer on Sunday afternoon. In and out in 30 minutes at a mass vax site in Maryland. My wife harped on me all day to get really well hydrated and I went to bed thinking the next day would be a Clint Eastwood film festival in my jammies. Nothing, nada, zilch. No after effects at all. Not even a sore arm. Feeling cheated out of my day of being useless I ran some errands while it was raining but in the afternoon it cleared off so went for a trail ride on my mountain bike to work up a sweat.

So now I have another question: Are you guys just a bunch of pussies? Or did I get the placebo? I have heard that the reaction is much worse if you've previously had the Chinese cooties. I can't believe I went an entire year, taking three week long motorcycle trips, doing trials events with hundreds of non-mask wearing riders, and eating out a lot and didn't get it. I tested negative after every big trip or possible exposure event.

Over the last year of mask wearing and using hand sanitizer 14 times a day I've been as healthy as I've ever been - not even a cold or sniffle. I've dropped 12 lbs and been working out regularly and we've saved a shitload of money not doing the air travel and vacations we would have done. I have a lot of sympathy for those that couldn't visit their elderly family in assisted living over the last year or any remote family for that matter; for those that lost someone dear to them; and for people that spent so much time shut in to tiny apartments going crazy from cabin fever. I feel truly blessed that our family got through this so far with so little impact.

I haven't had the second Moderna shot yet. We'll have to wait and see.

But, this year I have hardly changed my routine at all. Here in Oklahoma, only a few cities (college towns) took the Covid pandemic very seriously. There was initially some social distancing "to flatten the curve," but mask wearing was sporadic and used on a store by store basis. I personally saw kids and grandkids without masks after the first 60-days last spring. We went to Gunnison in the summer and AHR in October. Everyone made it through this fine.

Like you, I'm glad my family got through this with so little impact. Were we just lucky, or . . .?

I know two people that didn't go to the doctor when they had other
ailments and ended up dying because they waited too long.

One major reason cases are declining is because many people are vaccinated. Hopefully politics will not prevent people from getting the vaccine.

Something you won't see on the news anywhere - a significant percentage of COVID deaths this year have been in people that were full vaccinated, then got COVID, then died. My doc is part of a worldwide consortium of physicians that are tracking their own experiences and trials. Their efforts apparently sprung up out of their dissatisfaction with the politicalization of COVID treatments. It's being squashed in the news because it might lead to fewer people getting the vaccine.

Mani, if it is proper for you to comment, it would be interesting to hear your take on this information.

I don't think this factoid has anything to do with the vaccine killing people but rather that after being vaccinated you can still get COVID and die from it.

Can spin this until the cows come home, but the science don't lie.
The numbers have to come down for things to open back up....
Get vaccinated so we can get back to normal !
