I drove to Adventure BMW and picked up my new BMW vario side cases for my R1300GS. They look so much better than those big fugly givi cases they loaned to me. If there wasn't still salt and chemicals on the roads here, I would have ridden the bike there. All this mess should be gone by next week.

We rode over to a local BBQ joint yesterday to check the new tires, IAC valve and timing chain tensioner O-ring kit prior to leaving tr Texas in 4 weeks. Everything is A-OK. Moe's BBQ is still recovering from Hurricane Helene but have been able to serve from their food truck. Yummy!

Hey, that's sort of an unusual paint scheme on that bike back there. Did you do that yourself, or is that some sort of factory special? Looks alright.

You need more pie...you're getting too skinny!

Headed to Texas in 19 days. On the way we will be going through Pie Town, NM.

Got the 36,000 mile warranty drive shaft replacement done this week. The bike has never gotten more than 39 mpg the way I ride it. I swear the bike feels like it's putting more power to the ground now and on my 100 mile half-day loop from home I rolled in showing 45 mpg. WTF is that about? How bad does a final drive have to be to be sappng that much power to the rear wheel? What else could account for this difference?

I had the recommended drive shaft test done on my bike a year ago which is passed OK. Having reached 36,000 miles on it I scheduled it in for the preventative replacement last week. My GS has spent a lot of its life in the woods with more time crossing sometimes deep water more times than I can remember. The tech reported no problems replacing mine but said there have been a few other bikes that required a lot of torch work, banging, and colorful language to get that job done.
A odd thing since having that done - the bike feels like it pulls much harder and is getting better gas mileage. That makes no sense that it was drive shaft related. I would think the if there were a problem robbing power to the ground it would be destroying itself and generating a lot of heat but that wasn't the case. I've never gotten better than 39 mpg on my GS in the last 7-8 years. On a day loop I've ridden dozens of times from my house, always netting 39 mpg, I rolled in to home showing 45 mpg on the display.
Bob's did the biannual service on the bike so maybe it was a ECU flash that threw me some power and MPG? If so, then WTF why wasn't it like that from the jump? Maybe it's retuned to compensate for something?
Any thoughts from the collective wisdom here?

Went for a ride, turned 18,000 miles & changed the oil when I got home.

Put visors on the TFT and Garmin.
Having Wunderlich 6 miles away from the house is either a ble$$ing or a cur$e.
