Rode it 80 miles in the heat. Changed final drive oil when I got home. No water, no metal. 2,000 miles until I get the new drive shaft.

Now that Renee's bike is ready I can focus on mine. Oil was changed to Liqui-Moly. It still needs a 3x fluid change day, but the farkling is done. The second owner removed everything back to stock and cut the accessory plug off flush so I started from scratch with a new accessory plug, to a new fuse/relay block, to a USB power port under the RAM phone mount and a DS1.
The old RAM was an X-Mount and they are garbage. Switched to this one (much better) because I like the stem mount concept even though I destroyed the new plug getting it out. The previous owner saved my old parts!
The DS1 mount was a PITA. I debated using a Techmount with a magnet or Velcro but ended up forcing myself to use the 1/4-20 mounting screw for security. This required a whole lot of screwing around to mount from the top and onto the brake lever mounting but all materials were in stock in the RC hobby goodies area. Wondering if I should add a thin weather shield plate for sun and initial rain drops?
I used M6 SS allthread bonded with GFlex into a 6x7 CF tube with brass M4 thread inserts bonded inside on top, then sleeved that with 7x8 CF and a drilled-out and pinned SS nut to properly secure the brake lever. It just clears the brake res cap and screen at full right lock. Debating an iso grommet at the main mount screw?

I charged the battery with a brand new new battery charger. I left the key on a few days ago. My existing battery charger wouldn't work, damn it. It was state of the art and $29.99 in 1983. Can't believe it let me down.Comment

We've done a lot of rough dirt / gravel roads so that likely contributed to their demise. Way back in the i- days I commented on the K1200RS that I preferred normal forks, but I am admittedly AB Normal.

Tim, is your opinion on forks still the same? I am growing to enjoy the goofy K1300S front end. I'm not skilled enough to tell whether there is a lack of "feel." -
Tyson, my biggest complaint (if you could call it that) is the cost to repair the BMW Telelever. As for feel, this is an oldie but it explains my perception of the suspensions perfectly. ----- Our Ducati hit a small rock in a fast tight turn several years ago. The Ducati told me it was a seven sided rock. We hit the second largest side and the rock went to our left as the front tire rolled over it. We hit a similar rock on the K1200RS a few days later. I saw it, we hit it, the RS said, "What rock?"

New street bodywork on Kawasaki 636 is currently under way. Top half Kaw factory green. Lower is what this is about.
BMW 354 Titanium silver is about as "standard" as Ford black. Just sayin,it's a well known silver. So that is what's going on.
So,as I'm going through the whole process... looking at colors,graphics,decals,etc.
I look over at the K12. Dang,that black belly pan stands out. Bike is Phoenix yellow('02 BMW car color). So got on evilbay and ordered a replacement belly pan. Coming from a junk yard in NH... Part was cheaper than shipping. Pretty much,you can have the part,pay for the ride money.
Just easier to snag another,leave original...original. Hopefully have it painted/installed in a few days. Pics forthcoming.Comment

I added a Baxley wheel chock to our utility trailer today, along with a couple of 1x10 boards to strengthen the wire mesh floor. Hopefully we will never need it but if we do it's ready.Comment

OK,project report; BMW 354 Titanium silver.... 2 lite/med wet coats of 354. About 1/2 hr flash between coats. Then wait about an hour and slammed a coat of clear.
This pic is before the clear. The amber is a reflection off tarp/plywood.
100% satisfied with the color match on the K12's silver frame/wheels/bits N pieces. And since this color was originally chosen as the Kaw 636 lower... two tone, am also 100% on it enhancing the bright green. The 354 takes on(reflecting) whatever color you park it next to.
The bright green required a white sealer/undercoat to get the most out of it. I went with plain ole gray primer under the silver.

Bike came inside for rear section antics... stayed too long. She's headed outside but here's the 354 silver belly pan. I like it a lot better than the black. It's a little too clean when side by side comparison to high mileage factory bits... but it's a match for DNA.

Dropped it off at adventure bmw to get the driveshaft replaced. 38000 miles as of 2 days ago. Also, that darn spring strut adjustment inoperable alert came on for the 4th time. Something is wrong with a sensor is my guess. The spring strut was replaced last year.Comment

I did use bug and tar remover to remove the tar.
Road Smart 4 front tires were $162 each plus tax and install. $132 after rebate.
