I'm back at my buddies place in AL. I had a great time & am really glad I made the trek. Great riding & it was so good seeing everyone.

Thanks to Wes too for setting it up, the Wattstull for the hospitality (even though they didn't have the continental b'fast) & a special thanks to Bill & Dale! Those two really know how to make a rally memorable... waaaaay over & above!

I'm curious to hear if the plug we put in Steve's RR held up for the trip home from Bill's?

He said he had me at 89 but suspected I was going faster. No ticket issued. Notice gloves hiding radar detector which is illegal in Virginia.

ID:	39496 Had a great time! Seeing old friends and new friends. Glad Jimmy Z and George showed up. Got to Wattstull a day early. Did a ride to Smith Mountain lake for lunch Thursday. When I got back Bill and Dale were setting up the chuck wagon and popup tents. After we got everything set up and ratchet strapped down. A microburst of wind came through. Very scary, ripped the canvas off the popup tents. Shredded one. Bill got another canvas for the one tent. Wess and Elizabeth were my tour guides. One ride out to Marlinton and another ride out to Amish country. Between the two did over 500 miles. I ended up staying an extra day due to my mistake of not putting tires on the GTL. Rear tire down to cords. No shops open on Sunday a few open on Monday. Found an independent shop in Roanoke Cycle Sports. Eric hooked me up with a Dunlop Sport (not the best tire for a heavy GTL) but it got me home. Got a pair of Road 6 coming. It was a great adventure. Thanks Bill and Dale for feeding us again.

Let us know how the Road 6s do after you get some miles on them. Road 5s are off of our tire lists. The Road 5s below have 4000 miles on them and they are nearly gone. The Pilot Road 4s below have 4300 miles, similar travels, and look much better. (We've change tires due to trips, so we wound up with these "spare" sets. The Road 5s are off to the dump tomorrow.)

Road 5 rear at 4000 miles

                  Wise man right there....
How many times have we been to this event and someone
has said, "I thought I had enough tire left to make this trip,"
Then spent an entire day searching for a new tire.....
Tires are cheap, my spare time is valuable!

Glad to hear that Jargon was respecting the local speed laws. He told me that Slingshot/Miata thing of his is hard to keep under the posted limits.
