Yeah, I know. It took me a long time to get over that thought as well and then I ran into a bunch of ne'er do wells that are GS Trophy kind of riders that called me a pussy if I didn't ride with them - and that's when I busted my ass in that energetic high-side. After that, I learned how to actually ride it off-road in some gnarly places and enjoy that now as much as on the road. That said, I do have a WR250R that scratches my itch for the single track with much more gusto and fun.

No disrespect intended for anyone that doesn't take their expensive bikeapotomus off in the deep woods. I said I did it but I didn't say it was a smart thing to do.

I did it once alone, never again. Nobody knew where I was and I thought I was going
to have a heart attack trying to heave that heavy bike up. That was fifteen years ago.

What kind of buddy would that be

That photo was taken on Hogback Ridge in Virginia and it took about 2 hours to go 11 miles. It was one of the best memories of the trip! When we emerged and came to a paved road we were so elated that we stopped and took this photo:

I think my GS is easier to pick up from a dirt nap than my KLR. When that KLR falls it is flat on the ground and hard to get it started to lift it. My GS will rock up onto the wheels and crash bar where I can squat against it a lift it pretty easy. Practicing that was the first thing I did when I got it home with the protection parts on it:

Kuddos to you... I'm not saying that I could throw MY new bike on the floor just to see if I could pick it up, but THIS is the behavior that I'd expect to see from a Badass GS Dual Sport Adventure rider. #hardcore #realdeal

I have to admit, I learned to do it on the grass in my back yard. Did that so i Joe does not get to laugh at me.

I hate to say it but my GSA has taken a few dirt naps. Kind of why I bought it. But I can pick it up like a case of beer so no problem.

John, have you left for the rally yet?

I'm sitting here reminiscing on Bruce's tale of the two of you going to DGR and subsequently Barber some years back.
